Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation of USA – Los angeles chapter announced the details of upcoming annual event to be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009. This year, the event will be held at Heritage Forum, a premier performing arts center and theater that has a seating capacity of over 1300.

The program will feature an Odissi classical Indian dance performance by the renowned artist Smt. Nandita Behera and her students. Originating in the temples of Eastern India inThe second century B.C., Odissi is a classical dance form combining rhythmic and vigorous body and foot movements with dramatics. Smt. Nandita Behera, who has international performance experience and fame is the artistic director of Odissi Dance Circle in Cerritos, CA and has been imparting this school of dance for over 18 years.

The dance segment will be followed by Sangeet Sandhya – a musical medeley by Manjusha Joshi accompanied on the Harmonium by Vijay Bhatt and on the Tabla by Sanjay Katre.

The goal for this fund raiser event is to raise the awareness for the EKAL cause amongst S.California residents and generate funds to support 600 Ekal schools in the upcoming academic year.
